The Rocchetta di Castellarano is a unique fortified architectural complex dating back to the fifteenth century. Its composite structure develops around an irregular plan providing a defence post to the Castle and access to the circle walls of the hamlet. The Rocchetta is now municipal property  and since the second half of the twentieth century has fallen into serious disrepair. The work has involved complete architectural restructuring of the complex, including the moat leading up to it, through structural consolidation; renovating interiors and visitors’ walkways; making the various rooms fit to hold exhibits and cultural initiatives; and installing new technology systems.
