The complex of the Castle of Sarzano is mentioned in historical records dating back to the tenth century. It consists of the village, the former parish church and the remains of the circle walls and castle. It has been property of the Municipality of Casina since 1989.
The keep is the most interesting feature of the castle complex. It has been substantially remodelled and renovated several times through the centuries, as illustrated by the variety of styles of its wall faces. Structural consolidation and architectural restoration of the building has been carried out to make it suitable to host cultural initiatives.
