location: Quattro Castella (RE)
client: Municipality of Quattro Castella
year: 2004

The Castle of Bianello is a major example of fortified architecture modelled on the original plan of the Castle of Canossa. It has been restructured several times through the centuries and transformed into an aristocratic residence. It is currently property of the Municipality of Quattro Castella.
Structural consolidation work has been carried out on the north wing and part of the roofing has been reconstructed.
The buildings of the former oratory, dating back to the fourteenth-fifteenth century, and annexed portico, situated on the outer northern rim of the terraced knoll, are linked to the history of the Castle of Bianello. The conservation work carried out, involving structural consolidation and restoration of the building’s original features, allows the various areas to be used for cultural and reception activities.
